MAIN CHALLENGES FACED BY THE COMMUNITY:  Drought, unemployment, farmworker rights, HIV/Aids, alcoholism, gender based violence.

MAIN ACTIVITIES: Gender-based violence prevention, human & socio economic rights, access to social grants and IDs, mediation training and youth empowerment.

The Adelaide Advice Office is a registered non-profit organisation established in early1990s by local human rights activists. It registered formerly as a non-profit in November 2003. Originally they assisted people in their community who were victims of inequality and discrimination. After 1994 the organisation became a fully fledged Advice Office providing paralegal services to people with limited access to justice and advocacy work for people affected and infected with HIV/Aids.  Adelaide Advice Office is one of SCAT’s longest funded partner organisations.

The Advice Office handles between 250 and 300 cases per annum.
