MAIN CHALLENGES FACED BY THE COMMUNITY: poverty, unemployment, school drop-outs, crime, gender-based violence, climate change

MAIN ACTIVITIES:

  • Climate Change initiatives – household food gardens, clean-up campaigns, and awareness workshops
  • Learner Support – math tutoring for Grade 3 learners, school uniforms and shoe donations
  • GBV awareness – including 16 Days of Activism Against GBV
  • Youth empowerment – economic linkages, sanitary pad provision, and girls’ dialogues
  • Access to justice – referrals and rights awareness

Otsile Bokamoso NPO, established in 2018, is a Local Development Agency based in the Free State.  The organisation works to empower communities through holistic development, education, and comprehensive support services. The NPO runs several impactful programmes as noted on this page.

HIGHLIGHTS:

The organisation has achieved significant milestones in partnership with the Social Change Assistance Trust (SCAT), including winning the Community Builder of the Year 2023 award and being nominated for Youth Empowerment initiatives. Additional partnerships include collaborations with TIMCA for after-school programmes, Ackermans for festive donations, the Rural Education Access Programme, the Department of Social Development, Flourish, and the local primary school. Over the past three years, Otsile Bokamoso has supported 36 households with food parcels during the Christmas season and donated school uniforms and shoes to 150 underprivileged learners.
