MAIN CHALLENGES FACED BY THE COMMUNITY: poverty, unemployment, crime, gender-based violence, drought.
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
- Access to justice: supporting survivors of GBV, promoting human rights
- Gender Equity: awareness and information workshops
- Youth Empowerment: education sessions, participation in youth groups and sporting activities
- Food Security and Local Economic Development: providing training, seedlings and tools for community and school food gardens, assisting schools with nutritious food parcels
- Climate Resilience: teaching about climate change and climate resilience
Tyinira Rural Development Centre is located in Nqamakwe in the Amatole district of the Eastern Cape.
The Centre collaborates with the community and local stakeholders in order to provide education and awareness. It strives to maximise the unique potential of the community, especially women and youth to end poverty for themselves, their families and the community.
